Admission to The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music
Applicants must select the particular department (Ethnomusicology, Music, and Musicology) of the School they wish to apply to at the time of their application. Please click on the links supplied below for detailed information.
Undergraduate Degree Programs
Undergraduate applicants must complete the University of California’s Application for Undergraduate Admissions between November 1 – 30 of the year prior to admission. Applicants must specifically choose Ethnomusicology, Music, or Music History on the UC application to be considered for admission to these undergraduate majors. After the UC Application has been filed, applicants will be required to submit a department supplemental application. It is also possible to apply for these majors once you are admitted to UCLA, typically in the freshman or sophomore years.

Applications to all graduate programs in The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music must be made to UCLA’s Graduate Division.
