Grammy-nominated composer-pianist, MacArthur Fellow, and Harvard Professor Vijay Iyer will be giving a talk on a topic of his choosing. Iyer has released over 20 albums, has received numerous commissions from notable orchestras and ensembles, and was named Downbeat Magazine’s Artist of the Year in 2016, 2015, and 2012—the New York Times observes, “There’s probably no frame wide enough to encompass the creative output of the pianist Vijay Iyer.”  Iyer, a Herb Alpert Award in the Arts winner, received an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in the cognitive sciences of music from the University of California, Berkeley and has enjoyed a career that spans the sciences, humanities, and the arts.
