Gathering to celebrate the life of Mitchell Peters. Peters was principal percussionist and timpanist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 37 years. He published music that became standard repertoire for percussionists throughout the world. Peters taught at California State University, Los Angeles; University of California, Los Angeles; Music Academy of the West; and the Los Angles Philharmonic Institute. His students are members of orchestras, bands, and various ensembles throughout the world. This memorial event will include reminiscences, photos and video, performances, and the announcement of a new scholarship fund for future generations of UCLA percussionists.

In honor of keeping Mitchell Peters’ legacy alive at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, we have established the Mitchell Peters Scholarship Fund, which will support percussion students in the Department of Music. Click here to make a gift towards this fund and help ensure that our talented students can continue their studies to becoming the next Mitchell Peters. Your gift will help provide an academic and musical environment that fosters and nurtures the scholars and performers who will inspire us all.
