The following is a list of Opportunity Funds for faculty in The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. These endowment-based funds are dedicated to the support of creative and research activities, professional travel, masterclasses, special guests in undergraduate and graduate courses or special events. Each fund requires an application.  If you have any questions about these opportunities, please contact Professor Ray Knapp, Academic Associate Dean, or contact the chair of your department.

Alpert Endowment Fund for Faculty Research and Professional Travels. Open to all ladder faculty in the School of Music (non-ladder faculty require Chair’s support); annual funds for professional travel are limited to $1000 per faculty and annual funds for the support of creativity/research are limited to $3000 per faculty.  Click here for application and more information.

Alpert Endowment Fund for Guest Lecturers in Ethnomusicology.  Funds are available for faculty in the Department of Ethnomusicology to support guest lecturers for classes (jazz studies and world music) and special events in Ethnomusicology. These funds replace funding previously available through the RU Nelson Endowment.  Click here for application.

Dobrow Endowment Fund for Classes in Western Classical Music. Funds are available for faculty in the Department of Music to support masterclasses, coachings, large ensemble sectional rehearsals, guest residencies, and performance/lectures in Western classical and contemporary music, as well as in early and baroque music.
