What is the FEC?
Academic affairs at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music are governed by its permanent Faculty. The Faculty delegates authority on an ongoing basis to an Executive Committee of its members, whose Chair is the Chair of the Faculty. The Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) has the following responsibilities:
-Provides general oversight of the academic programs in the School of Music.
-Serves as an advisory body on matters concerning the welfare of students in the School of Music.
-Reviews and approves requirements for School of Music majors, minors, honors programs, graduate programs, and other curricular requirements of the School.
-Reviews and proposes changes to School of Music regulations.
-Consults with faculty members and makes recommendations to the Dean based on established Academic Senate policies about the School’s allocation of educational resources, academic priorities, and planning and budget issues.
