NAZIR ALI JAIRAZBHOY COLLOQUIUM SERIES
featuring a lecture by

Mohsen Mohammadi
Postdoctoral Scholar, Ethnomusicology

This lecture discusses nineteenth-century colonial literature on Persian music. It examines how European writers imagined a reductionist perspective to be the basis of a theoretical understanding of Persian musical practice. A critical question would be how the colonial perception was adopted and advanced by local scholars.
